 About the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company 

The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) is a resident ensemble theatre company bringing Shakespeare and the Classics to life for all. Operating out of The Otto M. Budig Theater, CSC hosts a year-round theatrical season in addition to special events, educational programming, and community engagements. In its theatrical portfolio, CSC executes up to nine mainstage productions and four touring productions annually.  

Position Overview 

The Education Associate will work closely with the Director of Education and other members of staff to facilitate the execution of CSC’s education and engagement goals.  

The Education Associate works with the Director of Education to oversee, coordinate, and maintain the quality and logistics of CSC’s educational outreach and touring programming.  They assist the Director of Education in planning the yearly PROJECT38 Festival, teach workshops, and execute classroom residencies throughout the Greater Cincinnati Region. The Education Associate serves as an education programming ambassador to schools and educators, fostering existing partnerships and cultivating new relationships. The Education Associate regularly works a schedule that includes nights and weekends.  

While there are many specific duties the Education Associate will need to execute to meet the needs of CSC, there is space to tailor this role to the selected candidate, their strengths, and their passions.  

Key Skills & Competencies 

The ideal candidate will have most of the following attributes: 

  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Is knowledgeable about Shakespeare’s plays, especially Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth. 
  • Has experience teaching Shakespeare to students (Iambic Pentameter and text analysis). 
  • Is organized and confident in their ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion. 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can process information on the fly. 
  • Possesses an innate curiosity and willingness to learn. 
  • Enjoys working as a team, but also able to work independently. 
  • Has strong project management, communication, and computer skills (including MS Excel and Outlook Calendars). 
  • Has a sense of humor, collaborative spirit, and genuine belief in advancing the mission and strategic vision of Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. 
  • Required: Valid driver’s license, reliable personal mode of transportation, and ability to pass a criminal background check due to in-classroom teaching requirements. 


Teaching Artist & Education Programming Support 

  • Teach workshops and residencies in K-12 schools on Shakespeare’s plays and workshops that that support CSC’s Educational Tour Programs and Educational Matinees.
  • Serve as liaison between school educators/administrators and the CSC educational touring company reaching out and answering questions and ensuring that the logistics and directions are coordinated in advance of the tour’s arrival.  
  • Alongside Director of Education, lead pre- and post-show Educational Matinee education activities. 
  • Serve as a PROJECT38 teaching artist for multiple schools and student groups. 
  • Teach and assist in Groundlings and Groundlings Junior education classes. 
  • Assist Education Director in overseeing quality control of in-classroom education department offerings. 


  • Maintain Education Calendar to share schedule, logistics, and directions for each tour/workshop with the touring members and staff.  
  • Contact all schools in advance of programs to communicate about logistics, technical needs, and directions to prepare touring members for their performance/workshops. 
  • Assist Director of Education with planning PROJECT38 Festival. 
  • Assist Director of Education with the creation of Educational Matinee supplemental materials. 


  • Comply with all of CSC’s company policies including evolving health and safety policies as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • Other duties as requested.  

Compensation & Benefits 

This is a full-time, seasonal, non-exempt position. This position is compensated at $12.50 per hour. Overtime, if accrued, is paid at a rate of $18.75/hour. In addition, the Education Associate receives: 

  • 120 hours of paid flex leave (covering illness, vacation, wellness, and holiday needs)
