An American masterpiece, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is set in 1927 Chicago in a ramshackle recording studio. Ma Rainey, the undisputed queen of the blues, squares off against a battling quartet of musicians and a tight-fisted producer.  As egos and ideologies clash in an increasingly violent way, the band enters a battle of wills in this Tony Award® Winning powerhouse of a play.
