Title: Charge Artist
Reports to: Production Manager

Position Overview
The Charge Artist is essential to the production team at CSC, collaborating closely with resident & guest designers, the Production Manager, and the Producing Artistic Director to ensure that CSC executes all of its projects to the highest artistic standard possible. The Charge Artist will serve as the paint charge for all CSC productions.
The base schedule for the Charge Artist is 9:00am-5:30pm Monday through Friday when we are not in a tech process opening a show. During those approximately 10-12 weeks a year, the schedule involves evenings and weekend hours such as Saturday-Friday 12pm-11pm (with breaks as needed). These extended hours and modified workweeks are regularly necessary due to install and technical rehearsals.
It is possible that all employees, including the Charge Artist, may be asked to assist departments beyond their area of focus or expertise in unusual circumstances.
Qualifications
Required skills include:
Three years of professional scenic design experience or comparable higher-level education/design experience.
Demonstrated artistic experience working with modest to mid-size material budgets.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and execute design ideas and intent from designers renderings and elevations (renderings, models, sketches, research, etc.).
Comfortable working on multiple productions simultaneously.
Advanced scenic artistry skills.
Must be able to lift 40lbs occasionally, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work at heights.
Preferred skills include:
Intermediate prop artistry and/or scenic carpentry skills.
Experience supervising overhire painters.

Responsibilities
Production:
Work collaboratively with Scenic and Properties designers on every production:
Collaborate with creative team to ensure a cohesive and world-class design product.
Adhere to production benchmark schedule for design phase executions.
Source rentals required for design execution.
Collaborate intimately with the Technical Director and Production Manager to ensure timely and accurate execution of designs while being respectful of design budgets.
Source and purchase items required for design execution.
Attend design launches, production meetings, technical rehearsals and first rehearsals.
Present designs at first rehearsal if the production’s scenic designer is unable to attend.
Head the paints department, including serving as the charge artist on all productions.
General work calls including:
Participate in scenic strikes and changeovers.
Participate in stage cleaning and preparation leading into technical rehearsals and build processes.
Participate in prop department execution and management.
Management:
Oversee paint shop and assist in prop shop management.
Schedule work in paint department to meet production deadlines.
Manage shop, equipment, and regular maintenance.
Maintain inventory of expendables; order supplies and stock items as needed.
Keep shop and storage areas clean and organized.
Participate in staff annual review processes.
Maintain and enforce high safety standards.
Fiscal:
Collaborate with Production Manager to establish annual scenic, prop and paint department budgets, including:
Material budgets per production
Overhire budgets
Annual shop and expendable supply budgets
Capital expense recommendations
Weekly expense reporting.
Analyze financial reports to observe spending patterns, budgetary issues, identify reporting or processing errors, and avoid overspending.
General:
Must have a reliable mode of personal transportation.
Adhere to company policies and regulations per the CSC Company Handbook.
Maintain a safe, fair, and ethical working environment.
Collaborate with the Production Manager and Producing Artistic Director to improve overall aesthetic product and production processes.
Potential design opportunities for successful and experienced candidates.

Compensation & Benefits
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage of $19-22 per hour, received through bi-weekly payroll. In addition to their earnings, the Charge Artist is eligible for benefits including:

Title: AEA (Actor's Equity Association) Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager
Reports to: Stage and Production Management
Position Overview
The Resident Stage Manager and both AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) collaborates closely with designers, other production team members, artistic associates, and the producing artistic director to ensure that all projects produced at CSC are artistically executed to the highest possible standard.
The Resident Stage Manager and AEA Stage Manager are responsible for the execution of approximately 5 mainstage productions. They oversee the Stage Management team and work closely with the Wardrobe Supervisor. The Resident Stage Manager and AEA Stage Manager works intimately with the acting ensemble; as such, they are able to handle issues with discretion, prioritize privacy, and value creating a comfortable work environment.
The AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager resides full-time in Cincinnati, OH and is required to be a member of Actor’s Equity Associate (AEA).
The schedule for the Resident Stage Manager, AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager is primarily driven by the performance and technical rehearsal schedule but will flex to include various other tasks outside of rehearsal and show times as laid out by the Production Manager.
The work schedule of the Resident Stage Manager, AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager varies to accommodate rehearsals and performances. The schedule regularly includes evenings and weekends with a base of 30 – 40 working hours per week. The AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager receives regular days off as defined by CSC’s Actors’ Equity Association agreement.
Responsibilities
AEA Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager will report to and assist Stage and Production Management with daily responsibilities related to the mainstage productions.
Assistant Stage Manager
Assist the Stage Management team with duties related to the pre-production, rehearsal, technical, and performances for a show as necessary.
May run backstage track or provide other performance assistance as required.
During rehearsals general duties may include setting up the rehearsal room, tracking props and costumes, being on book, taking line notes, and creating paperwork to assist with the production process such as props lists, preset sheets, run sheets, etc.
During performances general duties may include setting up and maintaining backstage spaces, communicating via headset, relaying notes to other team members, preparing stage areas for work.
If the following duties become necessary: assisting with quick changes, scenic transitions, and handoffs, a separate contract will be issued for these responsibilities and compensated in addition to AEA contracted salary.
Stage Management
Overseeing rehearsals.
Taking blocking.
Giving or supervising line notes.
Coordinating with the costume shop to schedule fittings.
Maintaining the callboard.
Collaborating with directors, designers, and other production team members to ensure the highest level of production quality.
Running technical rehearsal and performances, including operating the lighting console. Light board operation will be compensated in a separate contract in addition to AEA contracted salary.
Managing an AEA Assistant Stage Manager and crew members on some productions.
Communicating text cuts and changes to the production team.
Circulating rehearsal and performance reports to the production and leadership teams.
Assisting in stage management strike and changeover calls, including stage clean.
Setting the rehearsal room for first reads, enabling design presentations, and guest accommodations.
Creating and maintaining a prompt book.
Running paper techs and dry techs.
Maintaining the integrity of the production after opening.
Hand off production materials to production management after closing.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full time, seasonal position for contracted productions compensated at the AEA SPT 5+ rate (currently $700/week for AEA SM and $631/week for AEA ASM). All compensation is received through direct deposit on a weekly basis. In addition to their earnings, also receives:

Title: Teaching Artist

Position Overview
We are seeking passionate and innovative Teaching Artists to join our education team.
Our Teaching Artists play a pivotal role in developing and delivering educational programs that inspire students and community members through the lens of Shakespearean works and classical theatre.
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of educators and artists while making a meaningful impact on the lives of learners of all ages.
Openings will be filled on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
Lead engaging and interactive workshops, residencies, and programs centered on Shakespeare’s plays and related works.
Facilitate classroom sessions, workshops, and rehearsals that integrate acting techniques, improvisation, text analysis, and other theatrical skills.
Work with the Director of Education on creating innovative lesson plans and implementing program goals.
Collaborate with educators, directors, and other teaching artists to ensure goals are met effectively.
Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression.
Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for continuous improvement based on participant feedback and outcomes.
Other duties as assigned depending on programming.
Competencies & Qualifications
The items listed below are guidelines to skills and ambitions that a successful candidate should have. Successful candidates will identify as possessing the majority of these skills or being actively interested and committed to developing these skills. 2–3 years of teaching experience (or equivalent), with demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: Shakespeare, Acting, Improvisation, Stage Combat, Playwriting, or related disciplines.
Strong knowledge and passion for Shakespeare’s works and classical theatre.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Ability to travel to various sites within the tri-state area.
A successful candidate will also possess the following attributes:

Position Overview
The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company seeks overhire carpenters, painters, props artisans, and costume associates for several upcoming productions. Schedule is flexible, weekdays preferred with blocks of available time that are no less than four hours. Local candidates preferred.

Open to both Equity and Non-Equity performers.
Performers may be cast in specific or multiple productions.
Note: Auditions are for performers aged 18 and older. Separate auditions may be held for younger performers if needed for a production.
2. Shakespeare in the Park Summer Touring Company
Non-Equity only.
6-8 actors needed for the 2026 FREE Shakespeare in the Park tour of Much Ado About Nothing.
One actor will be a swing, required to learn all character tracks.
This is a traveling production and all performances are at outdoor venues across the region.
Schedule:
First Rehearsal: Monday, June 29, 2026
Performances July 14-September 6: Performances booked each week from Tuesday - Sunday with Mondays off.
Please note: Actors must be available for the entire contract to be considered.
Audition Requirements
Prepare two contrasting monologues, including at least one Shakespeare piece (combined total not exceeding 3 minutes).
Auditions take place in-person at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Each audition slot will last for 10 minutes.

Over 25,000 patrons come to see a mainstage production at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company every year! We are committed to make every visit a fun and memorable experience. Our dedicated volunteers contribute their time and talents to help us achieve an elegant and friendly atmosphere that keeps our guests coming back to each and every show.
Responsibilities- Ushers are required to arrive an hour before the show starts, typically at 6:30 pm for evening performances or 1 pm for matinees. Upon arrival, you'll participate in a brief meeting led by the Front of House Manager to review your assignments and the specifics for that day's production. Your responsibilities include scanning guest tickets and assisting with theater seating arrangements.
During the performance, you'll have access to a padded seat at the back of the theater, from where you can both enjoy the show and keep an eye on the audience. After the performance concludes, we ask that you help with cleaning the theater by picking up any litter. This volunteer position offers the perk of watching our shows free of charge! Moreover, we offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability, allowing you to volunteer for as many or as few shows as you prefer.
