About Cincy Shakes

Our Mission

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is a resident ensemble theatre company bringing Shakespeare and the Classics to life for all.

Purpose

Why We Are Here

We hold the mirror up to nature, fostering empathy in our audience, and feeding the dialogue in the larger community.

Vision

Where We Are Going

We will be a Company that is participating in the global dialogue by producing the classic canon, commissioning the next generation of classics, and engaging the artists, schools, and communities of Cincinnati.

Values

How We Will Get There

We foster three core values: Community. Commitment. Courage.

Land Acknowledgment

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company would like to respectfully acknowledge the Osage, Shawnee, and Miami People who have stewarded the land we are currently located on throughout the generations.

DEIA Commitment

We will create an inclusive space for all races, all ethnicities, all genders, all identities, all orientations, all abilities, all creeds, and all ages; where artists and audiences of all backgrounds see themselves and their stories represented; We will create an equitable space, in which all employees feel safe, respected, and valued; and where voices that have been historically silenced are amplified; We will create an accessible space, where the experience of live theatre is reachable for all, regardless of socio-economic class, educational background, or ability; We will create a diverse space in the types of plays we produce, in the races and experiences of our creative teams, and in the makeup of the audiences who attend our productions; We will make Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access integral to our mission as a nonprofit organization, to our identity as a company, and to our future as a business.

The CSC Board of Trustees helps establish the strategic direction of the company, set Board policy, steward assets, and provide fiscal oversight for the organization. We seek Board members who are willing to invest time, treasure, and talent into our mission and play an active role in the company through the next several years of strategic growth.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company seeks to foster a community of theater makers, patrons, supporters, and stakeholders who are representative of our City, united in their desire for artistic excellence, and unabashedly welcoming to all who wish to be a part of it. In service of this goal, CSC is committed to creating more in-roads to joining its Board, allowing for the value of service, consultation, community cache, and lived experience to supplement expected financial commitment.

If you are interested in joining the CSC Board of Trustees, please reach out to Sara Clark, Director of Development, at Sara.Clark@cincyshakes.com.
