At REVEL, we celebrate individuals whose vision and generosity have shaped Cincinnati Shakespeare Company with the annual Globe Award. Previous honorees include Calvin and Patricia Linnemann, Richard Westheimer, Otto M. Budig, Jr., Don Tecklenburg, Elizabeth “Lib” Stone, Vicky Reynolds, Jeanne Golliher, D. Lynn Meyers, and Bill McKim.
This year, we are honored to recognize two extraordinary individuals whose impact on CSC—and the greater Cincinnati community—is immeasurable: Michael and Margaret Valentine.
Mike and Peg’s generosity and belief in CSC’s mission helped turn a dream into reality. Their transformational naming gift during our $17.5 million capital campaign ensured the creation of the theater we now call home. Their names, displayed above our main entrance, are a lasting testament to their legacy of philanthropy.
Though we lost Mike in September 2024, his impact endures. Michael Valentine’s career as an innovator and entrepreneur spanned more than four decades. A University of Cincinnati graduate, he revolutionized the radar detector industry, co-founding both Cincinnati Microwave and Valentine Research. Throughout his life, Mike combined his business acumen with a deep passion for supporting education and the arts. Together, he and Peg have been dedicated philanthropists, giving generously to UC, Cincinnati Ballet, and countless other institutions that shape the cultural and intellectual life of our city.
A passionate advocate for the causes he believed in, Mike’s generosity—alongside Peg’s—has left an indelible mark on Cincinnati. Their commitment to fostering creativity, education, and community engagement reflects the very spirit of CSC’s mission. We are grateful to honor his and Peg’s contributions, and we are especially pleased that Peg will be with us to accept this well-deserved recognition.
